With over two billion streams, Brian Fennell, known as SYML — which means “simple” in Welsh — creates music that taps into the instincts that drive us toward places of refuge, whether physical or emotional.

Born and raised in Seattle, Fennell studied piano and became a self-taught producer, programmer, and guitarist. In 2019, he released his self-titled debut album, featuring the Platinum-certified single Where’s My Love and the song Girl, followed by the DIM EP in 2021.

SYML then embarked on a sold-out headline tour for his live album, Sacred Spaces, performing in stunning churches worldwide.

In November 2022, he released the single Better Part of Me, a new solo project in collaboration with bluegrass singer and violinist Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek and I’m With Her. He also contributed to Lana Del Rey’s album Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, released in March 2023.

That same year, SYML released The Day My Father Died, an introspective journey exploring abandonment, love, and loss, reflecting on how relationships shape us as individuals. The album was a major success, driven by the hit single You and I, which has surpassed 46 million streams on Spotify.

This album was at the heart of his last world tour, Phases Tour, which captivated millions of fans. Now, all eyes are on his upcoming album, Nobody Lives Here, set for release on April 4, 2025. This record delves into the passage of time, the fear of aging, and the valuable lessons only time can teach.
