After ten years of activity and acclaimed albums like Every Bad and Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder to the Sky, on January 15, Porridge Radio officially announced their decision to disband. Alongside this announcement, the band also revealed the release of their final EP, The Machine Starts to Sing, scheduled for February 21, 2025.

Frontwoman Dana Margolin stated: “This is the last new music from Porridge Radio, and it marks the end of the band. It means a lot to us. We are excited for you to hear it. This band has been our life, we are a family now. These will be our final shows. Thank you so much to everyone who has listened to us.”

The news was met with sadness by their many fans around the world, who now have one last chance to see them live and celebrate the huge impact the band has had on the independent music scene.

Formed in Brighton in 2015, Porridge Radio started as a DIY project, playing in small venues and developing a distinct musical identity, characterized by Margolin’s intense vocals, dissonant guitars, and ethereal synthesizers. Their debut album, Rice, Pasta and Other Fillers (2016), immediately showcased their raw talent and experimental approach. However, it was with Every Bad (2020) that the band gained international recognition, earning a Mercury Prize nomination, thanks to tracks like Sweet and Lilac, which highlighted their ability to blend vulnerability and sonic power.

Margolin has often described her songwriting as a cathartic process, stating in an interview: “Writing songs is my way of understanding the world and dealing with emotions.” This authenticity has made the band a cornerstone of the contemporary indie scene, influencing many emerging artists with their unique sound, which fuses post-punk, indie rock, and deeply emotional lyrics.

These italian tour dates offer a unique opportunity for fans to bid farewell to the band and experience their electrifying energy live one last time.
